Farmhouse Deli & Eikendal Wine

The Farmhouse Deli is where friends and family come together to share laughter and celebrate occasions – something we locals do best. The beautiful Bistro Styled restaurant is a place where you can relax with good food and good wine and last night’s Food & Wine Pairing was no exception.

From the moment we walked in, we felt at home and looked forward to the rest of the evening. Friendly staff greeted us and took us to our table and all I can say is WOW! What a breathtaking view to compliment your surroundings. The presentation is just out of this world.

Chef Paul outdid himself once again and provided a truly special culinary experience, combining the traditional with a lot of inventiveness. The beautiful and creative presentation of each dish, just adds to the explosion of flavours in your mouth. With so many tasteful dishes, it is difficult to choose my favourite dish of the night, as they were all exceptional.

Every plate of food was accompanied with good quality wine from Eikendal Vineyards in Stellenbosch. Nico Grobler was the host and he is one of the youngest Wine Cellarmasters in the industry. He told us a little bit of the history of each wine and it is clear that he is the brains, inspiration and passion behind Eikendal Vineyards exceptional wines.

I would have to say that the wine of the evening was definitely the Charisma. From the moment they poured the wine in the glass, I was seduced by the fragrance followed by the elegant taste. Charisma is a vision born through Nico Grobler’s travel experiences and makes for an interesting story. The Shiraz contributes a lean, fresh structure with spicy undertones and a light blueberry taste.
